In The Name of Love

I couldn’t hate you if I tried

For I’ve loved you more than half of my life.

It’s a funny thing, you know:

How the ones you love most

Tear apart your inner soul

How they hurt you with the kindest stroke

Holding the knife to your throat

But they can’t see the blood.

I’m like an organ donor

The way you constantly take,

Little parts of me until I’m a shell.

But I’ll still love you and wish you well.

And then this all will begin again

Fourth times a charm, right?

Maybe I won’t have to cry this time

But that’s a stretch, right?

Stone in the ice,

I watch it grow cold.

It’s all too much and I have to go.

But in the name of love

I’ll suffer in the snow

Because you’re the one memory I can never let go

*Author’s note: this one is an older one I had a hard time publishing. There’s been a lot more poetry focusing on my emotions because of how emotional this time had been for me. I hope you guys like them.
